BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
February 9, 1989
City Council Chambers
A meeting of the Board of Adjustment was held on February 9, 1989 with the
following members present:
Chairman Milton Bell
Board Member Gerald Farha
Board Member Ron Lanier
Board Member Whit Outlaw
Board Members absent: Preston Shaw, , Dr. Bettye Smith and Charles
Thompson.
Also present: Yjrt Anderson, Planning Director, Edmund Petry, Planner,
Tyrone Cooper, First Assistant City Attorney and Walterine
Brown, Recording Secretary.
Board Member Lanier made the motion to approve the minutes of the
November 3, 1988 Public Hearing. Board Member Farha seconded the
motion.
Motion to approve carried 4:0.
File 336-BA.
Consideration of a special exception to reduce the yard requirements of the
zoning ordinance for a proposed office building located within an LI (Light
Industrial) district at 1240 Orleans and Franklin.
Staff recommended approval of the special exception to reduce the required
yard setbacks from 25 feet to 5 feet for the following reasons:
The special exception would comply with condition 30-37 E.2.(b)(2)
of the zoning ordinance which allows yard exceptions for corner lots;
The special exception would not adversely effect the value and use
of the adjacent or neighboring property; and,
The special condition will not be contrary to the best public interest.

Board Member Outlaw made the motion to grant the special exception based
on the compliance of the three conditions. The motion was seconded by
Board Member Lanier.
Motion to grant the special exception carried 4:0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
