BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
December 3, 1987
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS
CITY HALL, BEAUMONT, TEXAS
2:00 P.M.
A meeting of the Board of Adjustment was held on December 31 1987 with the
following members present:
Chairman Milton Bell
Board Member Ron Lanier
Board Member Preston Shaw
Board Member Charles Thompson
Board Member Gerald Farha
Commissioners absent: Whit Outlaw and Bettye Smith.
Also present: Kirt Anderson, Acting Planning Director, Lane Nichols, City
Attorney and Walterine Brown, Recording Secretary.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Board Member Thompson made a motion to approve the minutes of November 5, 1987.
Seconded by Board Member Shaw.
Vote carried 5-0.
FILE 329-BA. Request for a variance to reduce the front yard of a residential
lot from 25-ft. to 9-ft. at 3340 S. P. Road at Southerland.
The staff recommended approval based on: 1) It will not be contrary to the
public interest; 2) Does involve a hardship and unnecessary hardship due to the
irregular shape of the land; 3) The spirit of the ordinance will be maintained.
SPEAKING IN FAVOR OF THIS REQUEST

Board Member Shaw made a motion to approve the variance based on staff's
recommendations.
Seconded by Board Member Lanier.
Vote carried 5-0.
1988 CALENDAR OF MEETINGS
Board Member Thompson made a motion to adopt the 1988 Calendar of Meetings.
