Inclusive Dates: 1834-1929 Donor: The First Methodist Church Estate Sales Committee DESCRIPTION This collection contains replica transcripts taken from the Texas Abstract Company during the inclusive dates of 1925-1929. These transcripts vary from early Spanish land grants located in Jefferson County and dated in 1834 to the civil minutes of the 58th District Court in 1929. Other transcripts include general warranty deeds, quitland deeds, probate records, decree of divorce records, marriage licenses, affidavits, patents and designation of homesteads. This unique collection was made possible through the research efforts of Mr. Forrest Thomas Green (1909-1990) and his wife Anne Lee. Mr. Green was an active member of the Jefferson County Library Commission and Mrs. Green was involved in genealogical research and a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. The collection will be of special interest to Texana historians who find interest in the era when the Spanish Government of the State of Coahuila and Texas filed their land grant deeds in the small village of Nacogdoches. These land grant deeds were those issued by the empresario Lorenzo de Zavalla. No restrictions apply.
