A Regular Meeting of the Historic Landmark Commission was held on June 8, 2026 and called to
order at 3:30 p.m. with the following members present:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Sigee moved to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on May 11, 2026.
Commissioner Makin seconded the motion. The motion to approve carried 8:0.
REGULAR MEETING
1) PZ2026-137
: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for an addition to the rear of
the home.
Applicant: JN Custom Homes LLC
Location: 2395 Long Avenue
Ms. Albert presented the staff report. JN Custom Homes, LLC is requesting a Certificate of
Appropriateness for an addition to the rear of the home located at 2395 Long Avenue. The previous
structure was demolished due to there being grading issues causing water damage and making the
structure unstable.

The proposed addition will be 911 sq ft with a 475 sq ft attached open air carport. The windows
will be white with a 6/6 pane to match the windows of the existing home. The exterior siding will

with Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray to match the existing paint color on the home and the trim
will be painted Sherwin Williams Pure White. The shingles will be IKO Cambridge Dual Black
Architectural shingles. The carport will have pine tongue and groove on the ceiling and will be
stained using Sherwin Williams Woodscapes exterior stain tinted in the color Special Walnut.
The property is listed in the 1991 SPARE Beaumont Survey as built circa 1938 and classified as a

Planning staff recommended approval of the request with the following condition:
1. All applicable permits are obtained through the Building Codes Department.
Slides of the site plan and subject property were shown.

The applicant was present. Natalie Briggs of JN Custom Homes LLC, 595 20 Street, Beaumont,
Texas addressed the Commission. Ms. Briggs stated that the existing garage has been demolished
She further stated that demolition was necessary due to rainwater drainage from the neighboring
property which caused structural damage. Ms. Briggs also stated that a master suite will be added
to the rear of the home where the garage was located.
Commissioner Makin moved to approve the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for an
addition to the rear of the home located at 2395 Long Avenue, as requested in PZ2026-137, with
the following condition:
1. All applicable permits are obtained through the Building Codes Department.
Commissioner Sigee seconded the motion.
A roll call vote was taken. Chairman LaBiche-Aye; Commissioner Brannan-Aye; Commissioner
Hambright-Aye; Commissioner Makin-Aye; Commissioner Ravey-Aye; Commissioner Sigee-
Aye: Commissioner Strassburger-Aye; Commissioner Thomas-Aye. The motion to approve the
request carried 8:0.
HISTORIC DISTRICT CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT
Ms. Albert stated that the Historic District Code Enforcement Report for the month of May will
be presented at the July 2026 meeting.
