A Joint Public Hearing will be held by the Planning Commission and City Council of the City of Beaumont
on Monday,June 16,2025 at 3:00 p.m.in the City Council Chambers located at 801 Main Street. The
request listed below has been submitted to the Planning office for review.
REQUEST:
Purpose: A request for approval of a Specific Use Permit to allow a Drinking Place within the CBD
(Central Business District).
Location: 304 Orleans Street
Applicant: Shanna Hawa
NOTIFICATION:
You received this notice because it is required by State Law that all property owners of real property
lying within two hundred feet(200')of the property listed under REQUEST be notified of this hearing.
This will be the only public hearing held on this matter. The meeting is open to the public,and you are
invited to attend and be heard. Any inquiries regarding further information on this request will be

I am NOT in favor of this request.
I own the historic Kyle Building next door to this proposed bar. I spent several
million dollars restoring this building to its original splendor of a hundred years ago.
After that, the city allowed a pathetic commercial warehouse to go up across the
street from us complete with razor wire and 18 wheelers blocking our access. Later
the city approved a bar I believe at this same venue requested now,which just
brought out a bunch of troublemakers who would park and drink on the streets in
front of our building and throw their bottles on the sidewalks, leaving broken glass
everywhere. Police presence was non-existent. It finally closed when some patrons
had a shoot-out in front of the bar.
This city leadership often "wonders" why no one wants to invest downtown. I can
tell you 100 reasons why, and they start with all these poor decisions by leadership.
You want investment, make the right decisions. We don't need another "nightclub"
downtown that jeopardizes the safety of people who work in the adjacent
properties.
