STAFF REPORT
Boyd Meier, Building Official, requests aCertificate ofDemolition for the multi -tenant structures
located at 2385Bmadway Street. According to the inspection report, the structures were
originally tagged as substandard on November 19, 2024 after multiple code violations were
discovered. The foundation is collapsing, rotten exterior walls, and both are considered unsafe
for hunmanoccupancy.
The property has received previous citations for property maintenance. In June of 2022 a repair
application was submitted for repairs to be made to the interior, exterior, and roof of the
apartments. The roof was approved by the Historic Landmark Commission in August of 2022 as
well as a review of the brick work to be repaired. No permits were ever issued, and the building
continuedtofall into astate ofdisrepair.
Based on the extensive repairs needed for the structures the Building Codes Staff is
recommending approval of the raze order.
The structures are not listed in the SPARE Beaumont Survey.
The demolition will be funded through CDBG Grant funding.
Planning staff recommends approval of this request.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY: Structure is extremely unsafe. Exterior wall
is in an active state of collapse, leading to falling brick and debris. Roof will
likely suffer more severe damage when the wall eaves. The rehabilitation
needed to save this structure would be immense. The garage apartment in
the rear of the property is also in dire condition. Based on the extensive
work that would be needed to bring this property back to minimum
requ-Lrements, and a lack of any attempt by the owners to rectify the
situation, staff is recommending a raze order for these structures.
