STAFF REPORT
Boyd Meier, Building Official, requests a Certificate of Demolition for the house located at 2098
North Street. According to the inspection report, this structure was originally tagged as a
substandard structure on May 29, 2020 after multiple code violations were discovered. The
foundation is collapsing, rotten exterior walls, and is considered unsafe for human occupancy.
There have been multiple changes of ownership, and multiple work programs enrolled in with no
progress made from the time of the initial tagging of the structure. The last inspection report was
completed onJune 4` 2024shovv\ng no work has been completed and that the structure is
uosecure and easily accessible tothe unsafe interior'
This request came before the Historic Landmark Commission in June 2023 and was denied to see
ifsomeone would purchase the house and make the necessary repairs.
Based on the history and extensive repairs still needed for this structure the Building Codes Staff
isrecommending approval ofthe raze order.
The property is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey as built circa 1911 and classified as an
Italian Renaissance. The recorder noted that "'The house cippearsstructurally sound and well -
maintained. The second story enclosure compromises the architectural integrity of the house."

collapsing, roof is buckling, and access points are unsecure. Garage has
severe roof damage. Based on the extensive work that would be needed
to bring this property back to minimum requirements, and a lack of
proper attempt by the owners to rectify the situation, staff is
