STAFF REPORT
This request was approved by the Historic Landmark Commission on April 14, 2025, to ensure
publication requirements have been met, the itern has been placed back onto the agenda.
Boyd Meier, Building Official, requests a Certificate of Demolition for the garage structure
located at 2405 Laurel Street. According to the inspection report, this structure was originally
tagged as a substandard structure on January 23, 2024 after multiple code violations were
discovered. The foundation is co||aps\nE� rotten exterior walls, and is considered unsafe for
human occupancy. The owner has signed ademolition consent, and at this time has noplans to
reconstruct anadditional parking structure.
Based on the extensive repairs needed for this structure the Building Codes Staff is
recommending approval of the raze order.
The property is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont survey.
Planning staff recommends approval of this request.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY:
Accessory structure suffers from serious dilapidation and structural damage.
A fallen tree has destroyed the back part of the building, and several areas of the
roof have been compromised. The garage doors have been boarded up, but
nonetheless the structure suffers from ongoing weather damage due to its poor
intcgrity. Complete demolition is recommended. Last inspection was conducted on
January 26th,2024.

Jefferson County, Texas, my consent as owner of the property and structure identified below to
demolish and remove said structure, In consideration for the demolition, I agree as follows:
I . I will be responsible for raking and cleaning up of small debris left by the demolition.
2. In order for debris to be removed, I understand I will be required to place
the materials at the curb line in accordance with City ordinances, I
understand that the demolition may result in rUtS in the property and the
potential of damage to real and personal property remaining on the
property.
3. 1 hereby indemnify the City, its employees, officers and agent against
any and all claims for injuries or damages arising from'demolition on my
property, expressly including injuries to persons or damages to real or
personal property arising from negligence by the City, its employees,
officers or agents,
4. If this structure is anti outbuildhig such as rear garage apartment,
shed or garage, etc., it Is the responsibill ity of the property owner to
disconnect elleCtriGity,weer and gas utilities from this structurell
Any personal property should be removed immediately because the
spoils from the demolition will be discarded accordhig to elty polliciles and
procedures.
The owner is responsible for securing the property until the City demolishes itf
