BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to apply for grant funds from the
Jefferson County Tourism Commission, in the amount of $3,000,00, for wayfinding signage for
the Tyrell Park Nature and Visitors Center.
The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict
compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.

APPLICATION FOR USE OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX FUNDS
FOR BEACH/PARK ON WATERWAY FUNDING
Thank you for your intcrest in promoting tourism and the hotel industry in Jefferson
County through the utilization of county I-lotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds. The use of
HOT funds is regulated by law (Tax Code 352.1033), which lit -nits the use of those funds
for the direct enhancement and promotion of tourism AND the convention and hotel
industry. In addition, the project must fit into one of the categories listed under section I,
subsection B, The following information will be used to determine eligibility

A. What type of events/activities is field at the beacli/park on a waterway in
question which attracts visitors from outside 75 miles of Jefferson County?
Nature Explorers - Saturday interactive programs, Summer educational
sessions In July, Guided historical Tours for adults and families, free disc
golf rentals, annual Owl Pellet Dissectlon Workshop as part of Museum
Madness weekend, field trips and othor outreach programs such as
presentations to Libraries, Seniors Church groups, etc. See attachments.
B. Are there current or planned marketing efforts in place to promote the
beach/park oil the waterway in question to visitors fronn outside 75 miles
of Jefferson County? Please explain in detail.
Tyrrell Park Nature Center and its educational, Interactive activities/events
are promoted via outreach presentations and programs, social media
posts, printed brochure/flyers and word of mouth.
By signing this applicatiou,1, individually and on behalf of my organization, represent
and agree that:
1. I have frill authority to execute this application on behalf of myself, group,
and organization;
2. Any funds allocated out of Hotel Occupanoy Tax monies will be used solely
in the manner set forth in the award letter;
3. 1 as a representative and my organization will, within 60 days following the
date of lnylour project/event, provide a complete and detailed accounting to
the Jefferson County Tourisrn Commission, c/o Kathi Hughes, in such forn2 as
may be provided/requested;
4. Faiture to provide the report within 60 days and/or to use the allocated monies
solely for the ptirposes for which such funds were awarded shall render file
and niy group/organization liable for rcimbursoment to Jefferson County of all
such funds, plus reasonable court costs and attorney fees.

All about Pollinators
Tyrrell Park Mature Center (TPNC) Is operated by the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), and offers this
free program, "Nature Explorers" to help children develop a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
The Nature Explorers "Come and Go" sessions are FREE and open to the pt4bllc and will be held at the Tyrrell Park
Nature Center, located at 3930 Babe Zaharias [hive in Beaumont in our newly renovated historic building in the center of
Tyrrell Park.
➢ Families can drop in anytime between 10am m apm on the selected Saturday dates, to learn interesting facts
while having fun, do a "make & take" and explore that month's nature topic.
Each Saturday Session will beset up with a couple of stations for an Interactive science experiment & nature -
based craft that relates to that month's topic. Volunteers are available to guide families with hands-on activities.
Rotation between stations s Is self -paced and designed as "come and go" program. Crafts will be available while
supplies last.
➢ The Nature, Science, and Arts Interactives are geared primarily towards children ages 5 to 10 years -old; but All
are Welcome, Children must be accompanied by an adult
The TUrrell mark Nature Center's mission Is to provide understanding, appreciation, and
I} conservation of nature with a focus on the wetlands through educational and recreational
outreach to all ages and all people as well as share the unique history of the park, its historic
structures, and Its recreational components.
