STAFF REPORT
Boyd Meier, Building Official, requests a Certificate of Demolition for the house located at 2254
Liberty Avenue. According to the inspection report., this structure was originally tagged on
February ICL 2021 after it received damage from a fire. The property owner initiated a work
program onApril 3Oi2O21atwhich time they secured the property and replaced the vuindovvs�
however no additional work has taken place since an inspection dated October 4, 2021,
The property is listed in the 1989 SPARE Beaumont Survey and was built circa 1925. The
significance of the structure was listed as ""The house is representotive of the local adaptation of
the Craftsrnanstyle and of larger middle-class hom es built in Beoumon1during th e firs t decades
of the cen tury. "
Additionally, the condition at the time of recordation was listed on the SPARE Survey as "Fo/c

Based on the extensive repairs needed for this structure and the lack ofrepairs made in the
past two years,the Building Codes Staff isrecommending araze order.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY: This structtire was brotight to HLC on 03/14/2022 for
demolitim but was denied. No work has been done since 03/14/2022. The taxes have not

been paid since 01/22/2021 by the previotts owner. The owner signed tip for a work
program allowitig_150 days to make the repairs and no work was done except a few
windows being replaced. The rotting sidleandmissing siding will treed to be replacede

structure is secure but there are e osed electrical wires. Based on the extensive repairs
needed in this structuge. staff is recommending a raze order for this structure.

Two-story frame front -facing 1111 -plan with cross hipped tile roof,, exposed roof rafters. Two symmetrically spaced
paris of nine -over -one sash on second story of projecting front bay. Hipped full-widt ' h porch with asphalt shingte
roof, plain, square vernacular corns, brick steps. Projecting central wooden door between two recessed nine -
over -one sash. Windows on second story of projecting side bay have been removed and the opening framed in. Triple
nine -over -one sash are on the first story of the side bay. Flared skirting. .Vernacular ports cochere.
11 Present Condition Fair. The house is structurally sound, but not particularly wet L-maintained. Unsympathetic alterations
detract from its architecturat integrity,
