HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 23-076RESOLUTION NO. 23-076 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: WHEREAS, nine (9) developers were notified and the project was advertised in various outlets for the building and property located at 555 Main Street; and, WHEREAS, one (1) proposal was submitted by SELEME LLC of Plano, Texas to develop apartments, a restaurant, bar, and fitness center; and, WHEREAS, Staff recommends rejection of the proposal based on the following reasons: 1. Proposed purchase price is less than half of the City's purchase price of the property; and, 2. Proposers did not meet main requirements of the Request of Proposal which included providing a Level of Investment, a detailed budget, a construction budget and proof of financial viability and capacity; and, 3. Proposers financing for the project is partially contingent upon unnamed and unsecured public grants and other City -related participation; and, 4. Proposers four (4) year timeline to complete the project did not meet the City's required maximum timeframe of three (3) years; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the City Manager be and is hereby authorized to reject the proposal for the lease or purchase and redevelopment of the property located at 555 Main Street. The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
