STAFF REPORT
Salvador Cisneros, homeowner, is seeking permission to replace twenty six (26) windows
on the house location at 2230 Laurel Street. The replacement of the windows was
completed without the benefit of a Certificate of Appropriateness (CA) or building
permits. Originally the windows were one over one pane, the windows that have been
installed are six (6) over one in appearance. Photos of the new windows are located in
your packet.
This home iscategorized as a Craftsman house. Examples for this style of home are
1ocatedinAF/eldGu/de toAmerican Houses (McAlester etai,pgs.456-4G3l. The request
to have six (6) over one pane windows seems appropriate, because it is typical for a home
within this era tohave avariety ofpanes.
Staff recommends approval of this request with the following condition:
1. Shall obtain all necessary building permits from Building Codes.
2. Any replacement of trim shall match existing structure color scheme.
This house is in in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states the house was built
pre 1920. The property was listed as typical middle class housing built after the turn -of -
the -century in Beaumont.

One story f ram structure. gable front roof wl th exposed raf tern, overhang i nq eaves, and e lbw brackets. Asbestos
siding. One low-pitched gable front portico supported by two rectangular stucco columns and enclosed stucco
bannister. One pair four -over -one sash and one one -over -one sash. one 15-pane sash. Wood porch, cement steps, and
wrought iron railing.
11 Present Condition The house appears to be structural) y sound.
12. Significance:
The house is typical of middle class housing built after the turn -of -the -century in Beaumont.
