SUBJECT: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install a carport.

STAFF REPORT
Justen Gravet� on behalf of home owner Latdce Traylor, requests to keep an attached carport
on the west side of the property located at 22I5 Hazel Street. This was constructed without
the benefit of an approved Certificate of Appropriateness nor building permits. The structure |s
twenty (20) feet by twenty (20) feet and has been constructed with wood and architectural
shingles, It extends from the west side of the home to the existing fence line. The carport is
visible from the street.
Staff recommends approval of the request with the following conditions:
2. The carport shall be in conformance with Section 28.03O24 District area and height
regulations ofour C|t»'s Ordinances.
2. All appropriate permits must be obtained through the Building Codes department.
This house is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont 3urvey. SPARE states the house is
typical of the middle class housing built to accommodate the rising population in
Beaumont 1nthe l92[Ys.

One story frame structure. Gable front roof with overhanging eaves, exposed rafters, and bracket supports. Louvered
vent in gable end. One pair four -over -one sash below and one four -over -one sash. One pair four -over -one sash and
one fifteen -pane door under gable front portico supported by two truncated square tapered columns on square brick
bases and brick enclosed bannister. Two story garage with overhanging eaves and exposed rafters. Two four -over -
one sash on second story. Two barn -like doors on first story.
11. Present Condition Good. The house appears structuratty sound and well -maintained. I

The house is typicat of middy class housing built to accow)cdate the rising population in Beaumont in -the 1920's.
