SUBJECT: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to paint a house.

STAFF REPORT
Carter and Company requests permission to paint the brick fagade of the residential structure
located at 2320 Long Avenue. Work was completed without the benefit of an approved
Certificate of Appropriateness. The structure was painted white, with black soffits, fascia and
trim. The intent of the project was to "update and remodel home to improve the curb appeal."'
The home originally had multi -color bricks with brown accent colors.
Section 28.03-018 Historic -Cultural Landmark Preservation Overlay District (g)(H)(H) states,
"brick surfaces not previously painted may not be pointed unless the applicant establishes thot
the color and texture of replacement brick cannot be matched with that of the existing brick
surfoceorthotthe pain tino/snecessorytorestore orpneserve1hebrick itsplf"
Staff recommends denial of this request.
The structure is not listed in the SPARE survey.
