SUBJECT: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace the windows and front
porch of a house.

STAFF REPORT
The applicant, Isaac Aguirre, is seeking permission to replace ten (10) windows to the
house location at 860 3'" Street. Replacement ofthe windows was completed without
the benefit ofa Certificate ofAppropriateness (CA) or building permits. Originally the
windows were one over one pane inappearance. The newly installed windows are six (G)
over six (6) in appearance. Additionally, Mr. Aguirre seeks permission to keep his new
front porch. The new porch is made of wood and has one exit tothe north via stairs.

This home appears to be a blend of National and Colonial Revival style architecture.
Examples of this are located in A Field Guide to American Houses (McAlester et a[, pgs.
336` example 7 and pgs. 98'99\. The request to have six (6) over six (6) pane windows
seems appropriate. Examples of National homes reveal srne|| porch additions to be

1. The porch shall be painted the same color as the main structure.
This house is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont Survey.
