Beaumont Heritage Society has requested a 12 month extension of time to complete
the proposed improvements as outlined in the amended specific use permit granted
on September 26, 1995. The purpose of this specific use permit is to remodel and add
on to the existing David French house and to construct an. open-air pavilion and
parking lot.
The Beaumont Heritage Society needs this additional time to complete its fund raising
efforts. Actual construction should begin within the next few months.

Dear Mr. Richardson:
I am writing regarding the above referenced ordinance which is dated September 26, 1995
and is file #1283-P. My client, the Beaumont Heritage Society, was issued a specific use
permit on this date to remodel and add -on to the existing David French house to create
office space for their facilities. As you know, the David French house is a part of the John
J. French house complex, and an integral part of the history of Beaumont, Texas.
Because of the nature of non-profit organizations, sometimes the timing of a project is
delayed due to fund raising efforts taking more time than expected. This is the case with
the Beaumont Heritage Society, and their original time frame has been extended beyond the
length of the specific use permit they had been issued.
I respectfully request the Planning Commission to extend the time frame of this permit by
12 months to allow the Heritage Society the opportunity to proceed with planned
renovations and additions. They plan to begin the project within the next few months and
look forward to your continued support of their efforts.
