Richardson, Planning Director SUBJECT: Consider an application for a specific use permit to allow the installation of a guest houselcaretaker's quarters behind a house at 990 Glendale on a 75' x 303' lot in an RS (Residential Single Family Dwelling) District, FILE: 1385-P STAFF REPORT This request for a specific use permit is in compliance with the eight conditions necessary for approval. Mr, Howard Woodall, the owner and operator of the Landing Bar and Grill at 8075 College, wishes to move an existing frame structure at 8085 College to a location behind his restaurant to be used as a guest house/caretaker's quarters. He wants to relocate the structure between his house at 990 Glendale and the telecommunications tower which was constructed at the rear of his lot this past summer. Mr. Woodall owns several lots along College and south along Glendale. The lot is 75x 303'and is zoned RS. A specific use permit is required for the proposed specific use permit. If this application is approved, it is suggested that the guest,house/caretaker's quarters not be used as rental property currently or in the future. Comments on Condition No. I follows: I The structure to be moved from 8085 College was last used for commercial purposes but has been vacant for some time. The Building Official has stated in writing that this building can be moved and be brought up to building code standards to qualify for single family use. A servant's or caretaker's quarters may be permitted in the district subject to the specific use permit. Mr. Woodall owns and operates a restaurant on the abutting property to the north which fronts College Street. The guest house/caretaker's quarters will be compatible in the neighborhood.
