SUBJECT: Consider a request for the abandonment of the undeveloped 600 block of Grant
Street, west of Irving.
To further the City's efforts to revitalize the Charlton -Pollard neighborhood, the Planning
Division is requesting abandonment of the undeveloped 600 block of Grant Street, Mobil
Oil is proposing to develop a 1.018 acre tract at the southwest corner of Irving Street and
Mary Street. This development will include a convenience store, gas pumps, car wash and
City of Beaumont Police substation,
All the property is under one ownership. The property owner agrees to the abandonment.
This request was sent to all interested parties, The City has a six inch sanitary sewer line
that is to be abandoned. Southwestern Bell Telephone Co, has some facilities in the street
that would need to be relocated at the owner's expense. No other objections to this
request were received.
If the City Council should decide to abandon the 600 block of Grant Street, it should be
abandoned subject to any existing utilities that need to be relocated be done so at the
property owner's expense.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR ORDINANCE PURPOSES
Being a 34.42' x 241.6' segment of undeveloped and unopened Grant St. right-of-way,
said right-of-way lying and extending west of the west right-of-way line of Irving St. for
a distance of 241.6', containing 0.19 acres of land, more or less.
