HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-16-00 PC MinutesREGULAR MEETING PLANNING COMMISSION October 16, 2000 City Council Chambers A Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission was held on October 16, 2000 with the following members present: Commission members present: Commissioner Dale Hallmark Commissioner Dohn LaBiche Commissioner Glenn Bodwin Commissioner Albert Robinson Commissioner Carlos Hernandez Commissioner Marty Craig Commission members absent: Chairman Laurie Leister Vice -Chairman Greg Dykeman Commissioner Bill Lucas Also present: Murray Duren, Senior Planner; Bill Dupree, Senior Planner; Bart Baker, Senior Planner; Jill Cole, Recording Secretary Commissioner Robinson made a motion to approve the minutes of the Joint Public Hearings held September 18, 2000., Commissioner Hernandez seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried 5:0. REGULAR MEETING 1) File 6Q5-OB: Request to abandon the 20'x 450' alley in Block 26, W. W. Chaison .Addition, between Woodrow Avenue and Essex Street. Applicant: Jefferson County Title Company Mr. Duren told the Commission that the request is to abandon a 20' x 450' alleyway that extends from Woodrow north to Essex in Block 26 of the W. W. Chaison Addition. There are 18 lots in the block. The City found that there is a 6" sanitary sewer in the alley, but no other utilities. The Planning Manager recommended approval of the request, subject to retaining a 450'x 20' utility easement to protect that sanitary sewer. Planning Comndssion October 16, 2000 Commissioner Hallmark, acting as Chairman, asked for the applicant's comments. Larry Crocker of Jefferson County Title Company, the applicant, was present in the audience. Commissioner Craig made a motion to approve the abandonment of the 20' x 450' alley lying across Block 26, W, W. Chaison Addition, as requested in File 605-OB, subject to retaining a 20' x 450' general utility easement to protect existing utilities. Commissioner Bodwin seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried 5:0. (Commissioner LaBiche arrived.) OTHER BUSINESS Bill Dupree and Bart Baker, Senior Planners reviewed the potential amendments to the Major Street and Highway Plan and Land Use Plan Elements of the Comprehensive Plan. THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS, THE MEETING ADJOURNED AT 4:00 P. M.
