Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a specific use permit to allow a drinking place in a GC -MD (General Commercial -Multiple Family Dwelling) District. The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request for a specific use permit. Jerry Jones, the owner of Club Fusion, was given a certificate of occupancy in October, 2001. Mr. Jones is now applying for a specific use pen -nit for a drinking place to allow the sale and on -site consumption of alcohol beverages. This club will not provide "adult entertainment". The current hours of operation are Thursday through Saturday, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Mr. Jones plans to continue those hours. Entertainment will typically be provided by a disc jockey with possible live entertainment once a month. Three businesses now occupy the subject property, Club Fusion, Aaron's Rental and Wood's Wireless. There a total of 61 parking spaces on the property. 116 spaces are required for the club. The club will be open when the other stores are closed. In addition, Mr. Jones has permission from Best Buy, next door, to use its parking for any overflow. No additional signage is proposed. Aaron's has an electronic reader board that is used by the applicant. Mr. Jones has been made aware that the all messages on the reader board shall be stationary, as intermittent or flashing lighting is not permitted.
