HomeMy WebLinkAbout1584-P1=K&I ME DATE: October 15, 2001 TO: Planning Commission and City Council FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for a specific use permit to allow a church in an RCR (Residential Conservation Revitalization) District. FILE: 1584-P STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request for a specific use permit subject to a waiver of the landscaping/screening requirements on the north and east sides of the subject property. Reverend Dean Tucker would like to open a church, Our Lady of the Light Church and Alternative Healing Center, in a former residence located at 2570 Laurel in the Oaks Historic District. Church services and other events would be held on evenings or the weekend. Counseling would be available for a number of health and family problems. Other services include therapeutic massage, bookstore and gift shop and an internet outreach ministry. Parking will be at the rear of the building and next door at Dr. Cobbett's dental office. Dr. Cobbett is the wife of Reverend Tucker and she has given permission to use her parking. The church's use of Dr. Cobbett's parking would not conflict with the doctor's office hours. Exhibits are attached. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION Notices mailed to property owners 25 Responses in Favor .
