FILE: 636-OB STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request. Michael J. Trahan, Commander of American Legion Beaumont Post #33, is requesting on behalf of the American Legion, abandonment of the 20' alley at the rear of their property at 1320 Pennsylvania. The American Legion has plans to expand its post to better serve its members. Mr. Trahan states that the alley has not been in use for over 50 years. This item was sent to all interested public and private utilities. No negative comments have been received. Exhibits are attached, LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR ORDINANCE PURPOSES Being a 20' x 150' portion of an alley, beginning at the northeast corner of Lot 5, Block 1, Bryan Addition, thence south for a distance of 150'to the southeast corner of Lot 7, Block 1, Bryan Addition, containing 0.068 acres, more or less. The American Legion plans to expand it's post to better serve our veterans in our community. The alley way has been abandoned for approximatley 50 plus years. Enclosed you will find a survey conducted on the American Legion Beaumont Post #33 and the surrounding area. The American Legion Beaumont Post 933 has plans to work closely with the City of Beaumont to better help our veterans in the community.
