HomeMy WebLinkAbout643-OBDATE: February 19, 2003 TO: Planning Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Consider a request for the abandonment of a 20'drainage easement and the 10' utility easement in Block 17 of the Replat of Calder Place Addition. FILE: 643-OB STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request. Freddy Dreyer, the property owner, would like to construct a 13' x 14.6' boat shed in the northwest comer of his property. To build the structure will require the abandonment of the drainage and utility casements. This item was sent to all interested parties. No objections have been received. Exhibits are attached. LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR ORDINANCE PURPOSES Being a 10'x 100'utility easement and a 20'x 100'drainage easement at the rear of the north 37' 9" of Lot 25 and the south 62' 10" of Lot 24, Block 17, Replat of Calder Place Addition, City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, containing 0.068 acres, more or less. Planning Division, Room 205 City Hall, 801 Main Street Beaumont, Tx 77701 Dear Sir: This letter serves as the attachment for the Easement Abandonment that I am seeking. The purpose of this letter is to obtain permission to construct a boat shed in the north — west section of my property. I have completed the Application for Right -Of -Way or Utility Easement Abandonment City of Beaumont, Texas form ( see orange form ), attached a check for $200.00, and attached a map on a copy of the Official Survey of my property delineating the shed location and easement abandonment needed. I have also attached a copy of my spreadsheet that was used to document my discussions with the various utility suppliers to make sure that there would be no big objections towards my gaining approval of the abandonment. In general, my discussions with the various utility suppliers, the Beaumont Water Utilities Department, and Beaumont Drainage Department indicated that running the electrical supply to my house underground would be the only requirement. I will incorporate that requirement in my plans. The boat shed will consist of a 4 inch concrete slab, a composition shingled roof, and support columns that hold up the roof. I appreciate your attention to this request. Also, I would like to thank Mr. Steve Richardson for guiding me in this process. Sincerely, Freddy R.
