HomeMy WebLinkAboutHCD-1.39 DATE: May 9, 2011 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for an historic preservation loan FILE: HCD-1.39 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval. Charles and Vanessa Pickens have applied for an historic preservation loan for work to be done on their house at 2300 Harrison. The Pickens have applied for and received two historic preservation loans from the City - one in the amount of $3,500 and another in the amount of $5,000. Both loans have been paid off. The money was used to make a number of repairs to the house, including the replacement of floor joists and beams and leveling. The new request is for $31,140 to be used for repairing the front porch, adding vinyl siding to the exterior of the house, install five pairs of new shutters to the front of the house and replace missing shingles on the front side of the roof. The house is not listed in the SPARE Beaumont survey. If the loan amount of $31,140 is approved by the Historic Landmark Commission and City Council, payments will be $370.71 per month for 84 months. Exhibit is attached.
