Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a historic preservation loan for renovations at 2300 Harrison Street. FILE: HCD-1.27 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends denial of this request. Charles and Vanessa Pickens are requesting up to $25,063 for renovations to their home at 2300 Harrison. The Pickens have received two bids - one for $23,500 and one for $25,063. Work to be done to the house includes the following: S New composition roof S Vinyl siding S House leveling/sill repair S Install ridgevents S Repair all decayed wood on flatroof, carport, breezeway and other areas S Install insulation. Credit reports were run on Mr. and Mrs. Pickens. Due to unfavorable information in those reports, the Planning Manager is recommending denial of this request. The Planning Manager discussed this information with Mrs. Pickens and she said that a period of unemployment for her husband resulted in some credit problems, including a number of delinquent accounts. Both Mr. and Mrs Pickens are currently employed and wish to proceed with the historic preservation loan request, despite the Planning Manager=s recommendation. The property is not listed in SPARE Beaumont. Exhibits are attached.
