RE: Variance Request
Dear Mr. Richardson,
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to apply for a sign variance. The nice ladies from
your department that actually measured my sign said that it would be a "perfect candidate for a
variance." So, hopefully you will think so also.
My building, located at 2611 Laurel, is approximately 6 feet from the sidewalk. The sign is
located I ft in front of the building. The colors of the sign and grounds surrounding the sign are
landscaped and blend well with the building. It definitely compliments Laurel Street and the
Historic District. "
My business would be caused "unnecessary hardship" should I not be granted a variance. Last
year I purchased this building primarily for the exposure on Laurel Steet. It is a absolute
necessity in this type of business.
The sign is comprised of a molded material (similar to concrete) that cannot be moved. Also,
there would be no room to move it. The sign is only I foot from the front of the building.
As mentioned above, this is "a perfect candidate for a variance." It is set as far away from the
road as possible and is done in a tasteful and conservative manner. I may be a little bias, but this
sign/building is the nicest looking structure on Laurel.
Please feel free to stop by my office for a closer view of the sign and maybe a cup of coffee,
Thanks for your consideration.
