PUBLIC HEARING
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
May 15, 1987
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS
CITY HALL, BEAUMONT, TEXAS
1:00 P.M.
A meeting of the Board of Adjustment was held on May 15, 1987 with the following
members present:
Chairman Milton Bell
Commissioner Whit Outlaw
Commissioner Ron Lanier
Commissioner Charles Thompson
Commissioner Gerald Farha
Commissioner Bettye Smith
Commissioner absent: Preston Shaw.
Also present: [Girt Anderson, Senior Planner/Landscape Architect, Norman
Whitaker, Planning Director; Tyrone Cooper Assistant City Attorney; and Walterine
Brown, Recording Secretary.
FILE 320-BA. An appeal to the Board of Adjustment to decide if a specific
use permit is rquired by ordinance to allow a drinking place to be opened
at 2405 Hegele at Usan on property described as tract 45, City Plat B-10,
J. W. Bullock Survey, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas.
Chairman Bell and Asst. City Attorney Cooper explained that the attorney
for Mr. Autry, the applicant for case 320-BA had to appear in court in Houston
today and could not be here.
Motion was made by Commissioner Outlaw to re -schedule File 320-BA until June
4, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
Seconded by Commissioner Lanier.
Vote carried 5-0.
Commissioner Smith asked that new notices of the meeting be mailed out again
to the property owners.
Chairman Bell requested that the June 4th hearing of this case be the final
hearing.
FILE 322-BA. Request for a variance to reduce the lot widths for two lots
from the required 75' to 55.54' and 55.46 at 2770 and 2760 Laurel Ave.
Mr. Anderson: The staff is recommending approval based on compliance with
the three conditions needed for a variance as set out in the Zoning Ordinance
in Section 30-37.
SPEAKING IN FAVOR OF THIS REQUEST
H. G. Nichols, Jr.
Commissioner Thompson made a motion to approve the variance.
Seconded by Commissioner Farha.
Vote carried 5-0.
ADJOURN.
Note: The rape recording equipment was not operational during the May 15,
1987 meeting.
