SUBJECT: Request to consider an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness to
construct - a detached porte cochere in the front of a single family home

STAFF REPORT
The Planning Director recommends approval of the certir m for the porte cochere
subject to the roof being shingled in a manner similar to tb i ► lain structure.
This application is for the construction of a free standing porte cochere with
dimensions 20'x30 x8'6". The roof will be of a pitch to compliment the house. It is
the desire of the applicant to construct the roof of clear Lexan in order to allow for
light. The frame of the structure will be made Qf 4'x4" posts and 2'"x8" beams. The
frame will be painted to compliment the house.
Sec. 30-21.2 requires that roof materials and colors must compliment the style and
overall scheme of the building or structure. Staff feels that Lexan does not conform
with the guidelines.
