Richardson, Planning Director SUBJECT: Request to consider an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish a house at 1810 Calder FILE: CA-118 STAFF REPORT The Planning Director recommends denial of this request. This property is listed in SPARE Beaumont. This residential property was constructed in the Craftsman style, circa 1910. The structure is a two story frame with a hip roof. This house is an example of upper class housing built on Calder Avenue after the first Spindletop boom in Beaumont. It is the desire of the applicant to demolish this house so that the sale of the property can be finalized. The applicant has also filed a related zoning application (1277-Z) to remove the historic district overlay from the property. Exhibits attached.
