Richardson, Planning Director SUBJECT: Reconsideration of a request to demolish a house located at 2550 Hazel in the Oaks Historic District. FILE: CA-28 STAFF REPORT The Planning -Director recommends approval of this request. The City of Beaumont wishes to demolish the house located at 2550 Hazel. This property is located in the Oaks Historic District. This house was built c. 1928 and is of the Colonial Revival style. It is typical of middle -income single family residential housing from that time period. This house was brought before the Historic Landmark Commission in January, 1994. Several neighbors had complained to the City about the condition of the house. The Historic Commission voted 5:3 to deny the demolition of the house. Since that time, the house had deteriorated further and the City was again interested in demolishing it. While the City was working with the applicant, the house was stripped and items were stolen. Therefore, the City is again asking that the Historic Landmark Commission approve a Certificate of Demolition for this house. Exhibits are attached.
