Richardson, Planning Director SUBJECT: Request to consider an application for a historic preservation loan for the exterior rehabilitation of the house located at 1645 Orange St. FILE: HCD-1.14 STAFF REPORT The Planning Director recommends approval of this request in the amount of $30,000.00. The applicant recently purchased this home as his future residence. It is his intent to completely refurbished the structure. Initial plans for the exterior involve leveling the house and replacing the roof. The house was built c. 1905. According to SPARE Beaumont, the house is of a Classical Revival/Stick Style. The house was originally built for Benjamin Shipley, a former Jefferson County Clerk. The house has a City of Beaumont Historic Marker. This house is architecturally significant and may be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Provided the loan amount is approved at $30,000, the rate of repayment will be $357.14 monthly for a period of 84 months.
