Richardson, Planning Director SUBJECT: Request to consider an application for a certificate of appropriateness to install a 32" x 70" shingle sign at 601 Park FILE: CA-189 STAFF REPORT Brenda Jenkins, owner of Sweet Magnolias Flower and Gift Shop, is wishing to install a 32" x 70" shingle sign underneath the awning of the Fertitta Building. Ms. Jenkins recently opened this business and needs the sign for business identification, The sign will have burgandy copy on a peach background. These colors will match the colors found on the exterior of the Fertitta Building. A rendering drawn by Kevin Milstead, Texas Historical Commission architect, shows signs above the is doors and windows on the building. The Texas Historical Commission encourages shingle type signs catering to pedestrians. Mr. Milstead has reviewed this sign and thinks that it is appropriate for the building. Exhibit are attached.
