STAFF REPORT
Custom Construction Co., the applicant, has been hired to build an enclosed walkway that
will connect the McManus Lamp Lighter store (820 N. 11th) with the Select Antiques
store (2694 Hazel). Both businesses are owned and operated by Jeff McManus. The
historic district boundary bisects the proposed walkway.
The wood frame walkway will be of pier and beam construction. The siding will be either
masonite or fibered concrete lap siding. Fiber concrete siding will only be permitted if the
zoning ordinance is amended to allow such siding. The roof will have a 1/12 pitch that
will slope to the rear. The facia will be the same as on the Lamp Lighter store. A double
door and concrete steps will face Hazel St. The walkway will be painted a tan color to
match the Lamp Lighter store.
Exhibits are attached.
