Richardson, Planning Director SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness for the construction of an enclosed walkway between two commercial buildings located at 820 N. llth and 2694 Hazel. FILE: CA-227 STAFF REPORT Custom Construction Co., the applicant, has been hired to build an enclosed walkway that will connect the McManus Lamp Lighter store (820 N. 11th) with the Select Antiques store (2694 Hazel). Both businesses are owned and operated by Jeff McManus. The historic district boundary bisects the proposed walkway. The wood frame walkway will be of pier and beam construction. The siding will be either masonite or fibered concrete lap siding. Fiber concrete siding will only be permitted if the zoning ordinance is amended to allow such siding. The roof will have a 1/12 pitch that will slope to the rear. The facia will be the same as on the Lamp Lighter store. A double door and concrete steps will face Hazel St. The walkway will be painted a tan color to match the Lamp Lighter store. Exhibits are attached.
