SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to construct a parking area
in the front yard of a residence
FILE: CA-481
lI
The Planning Manager recommends denial of this request. Since the inception of the Oaks
Historic District, it has been the policy of the City to discourage parking in the front yard.
The applicant wishes to construct a parking area consisting of two concrete runners in the
front yard of her residence at 2025 Long. It is her desire to provide off-street parking for
a car that is now being parked on the street. There is an existing driveway along the side
of the house that extends back to the middle of the house.
The Zoning Ordinance says that parking in front or side yards is not permitted on grassed
areas. Vehicles may be parked only on paved surfaces. Grassed areas may not be paved
or otherwise destroyed without a certificate of appropriateness.
