Special Meeting
October 18, 2000
Mr. Gary Wallace, Contractor, addressed the Commission. He apologized to the
Commission for not appearing at the previous meeting. He also thanked the
Commission for scheduling a special meeting to approve/deny his request for a
Certificate of Appropriateness.
Commissioner Shelton asked Mr. Wallace if it was his responsibility to obtain all
permits for the job. He replied that it was.
Discussion followed regarding paint colors and Mr. Wallace stated that the trim and
house color would be matched as close as possible. The trim color is a dark blue and
the house color will be a khaki (tan)color. The stone will match the color that is
currently on the house. Mr. Wallace will provide color samples to the staff. The staff
can approve them if they fall within the color range.
Commissioner Jordan commented that the roof was part gable and part hip roof.
Discussion followed regarding the difference between the two types of roof.
Mr. Keith Carter, 2615 Liberty @ 10th, owner of the house, addressed the
Commission. He stated that he and his wife had lived in the house for twenty three
years. He also stated that he wanted the house to look good. Commissioner Broussard
asked Mr. Carter if he approved of the plans for the house. He replied that he did.
Other discussion included the fencing, which will be replaced with like kind. Chairman
Richardson asked exactly what was the Commission being asked to approve. Mr.
Richardson replied "to approve the design of the addition as submitted on the plans."
With no further discussion, Chairman Richardson asked for a motion. Commissioner
Belt made a motion to approve CA-514 for the addition to a house. Commissioner
Long seconded the motion. The motion carried 7:0.
Mr. Wallace again thanked the Commission for holding the special meeting.
