Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow the installation of windows FILE: CA-721 Note: This item was tabled from the July 8, 2002 Historic Landmark Commission meeting. STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends that the windows have dividers. Rodona Neely and Robin Rawlinson, the property owners of the house at 2535 Louisiana, are requesting a certificate of appropriateness to allow the replacement of multi -light wooden windows with new single pane upper and lower aluminum windows. The Zoning Ordinance states that all windows in the front or side facade of a main building must be typical of the style and period of the building. Windows must contain at least two window panes. The frames of windows should be trimmed in a manner typical of the style of the house. The house is listed in the 1991 SPARE Beaumont survey. SPARE states that it was built c.1942, is a traditional/ranch style and is an example of World War II housing that was popular throughout the country. At the July 8 meeting, Ms. Neely said that she had already bought the windows. The contractor did not get a building permit to install the windows. The Commission discussed with Ms. Neely the possibility of adding dividers to the new windows. She said that she would discuss that with her contractor. Ms. Neely agreed to have dividers installed on the windows and the Planning Manager approved the certificate of appropriateness. During the week of July 29, Ms. Neely called the Planning Manager and said that her contractor would like to address the issue with the Historic Landmark Commission. Exhibit is attached.
