SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a
residential structure and the adjoining shed

The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request.
The Clean Community Department is requesting approval of the demolition of the residential
structure and adjoining shed at 2241 Liberty. The structures were inspected and found to be in
violation of the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to dangerous structures.
The structures were tagged as substandard on October 9, 2002. Inspection found that the
structures have 50% or more damage to non -supporting members and 33% or more damage to
�. supporting members. The structures have been determined to be substandard and unsuitable for
rehabilitation.
The property is listed in the 1989 SPARE Beaumont. SPARE states that the main structure is of
the Neoclassic style with a Craftsman influence. The house was built c. 1915.
the tax roll values the land at $4,800 and the improvements value at 19,900 for a total of
$24,700.
The structures will be presented to City Council in the near future for a raze order.
