HomeMy WebLinkAboutCA-802DATE: May 19, 2003 TO: Historic Landmark Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness for the construction of a sunroom on the front of a house at 2445 Gladys. FILE: CA-802 ,STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request. Richard Jones, the property owner, wishes to construct a 15' x 20' sunroom addition to the front of his house at 2445 Gladys. The proposed sunroom addition would be one story with the same roof pitch as the house with the gable end facing the street. Two T wide x 6' high curved top windows with French -type mullions and double 3' doors will be installed on the front. There will be three windows on the left side and two on the right. Between the two windows on the right will be a 3' wide entry door from the current driveway. The addition will be built on a slab foundation of the same elevation as the existing house floor. Brick veneer will be installed up to the bottom of the existing window elevation. The balance of the siding will be a vertical bat and board to match the rest of the house. The roof will be composition shingles to match the rest of the house. The brick will be painted to match the existing brick and the woodwork will be painted to match the rest of the house. The current front door will be eliminated (bricked up) and the roof overhang cut back to match the overhang on the far left side of the existing gable end to provide a balanced appearance. Exhibits are attached.
