SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness for the construction of a front
porch and side carport on a house at 2540 Hazel.

STAFF REPORT
Nick Toparcean, the property owner, is asking forpermission to construct a wrap -around porch
on the front of the house and a carport along the west side of his house located at 2540 Hazel.
The 1991 SPARE Beaumont Survey states that this house was built c. 1939 and is of the
Traditional style.
The porch and carport will be constructed of wood and painted to match the trim on the house.
The slopes of the porch and carport roofs will tie in with the existing roofs.
The Historic Landmark Commission will need to determine whether the additions will
complement the existing looks of the house.
