STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request.
Jack Seeley, the applicant, is requesting a certificate of appropriateness to build a detached
carport at the rear of the house located at 2348 Rusk.
The house is located at the northeast corner of Rusk and Minor. The house faces Rusk and the
carport would be accessed from Minor. A former 24' x 42' garage was demolished
The proposed 24' x 30' carport will be constructed with a 5/12 pitch, gabled roof covered with
3 tab asphalt shingles. The gable ends will be covered with Hardi-plank sheathing with a vent
at each end. The fascia will be Hardi-board. Truss rafters will be used and the bottom chord
of the rafters will be covered with a ceiling material.
The rear 10' x 24' of the carport will be an enclosed storage room. The storage room will have
a window on each end. On the east side of the store room will be a 3 6 " wide door. The exterior
walls of the storage room will also be covered with Hardi-plank.
The entire structure will be painted the same color as the house.
