Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for approval of a certificate of appropriateness to allow the demolition of a single family house at 2170 Pecos. FILE: CA-838 STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request. On December 10, 2001, the City of Beaumont's Clean Community Department/Neighborhood Services tagged a single family home at 2170 Pecos as substandard. The structure was inspected and found to be in violation of the City of Beaumont Code of Ordinances pertaining to dangerous structures. Gregg Gay was identified as the property owner. Notification was mailed to the property owner on December 18, 2001 and the notification was returned. Neighborhood Services has determined that the structure has 50% or more damage of non - supporting members. The property has an appraisal value of $17,840 (land value = $3,430; improvement value = $14,410). The structure is listed in the 1990 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house was constructed c. 1928 and is of the Craftsman style. It is describe as an example of middle class housing built in Beaumont in the 1920's and 1930's. The structure will be presented to City Council in the near future for their consideration. The Neighborhood Services/Demolition Division will be requesting a raze order from City Council.
