SUBJECT: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace a tile roof.
FILE: CA-3225
STAFF REPORT
Billie Dale Caywood would like to replace the tile roof of her home located at 2290 Liberty
Avenue. Plans are to replace the tiles with silver grey high definition architectural shingles. Ms.
Caywood has stated she will retain all of the ridge and decorative cornice pieces to place on top
of the shingles.
Planning staff recommends approval of this request with the condition that all ridge and
decorative cornice pieces are saved and placed on top of the shingles.
The house is in the 1989 SPARE Beaumont Survey. SPARE states that the house was built c.1925.
The house is representative of a local combination of two popular styles and is typical of upper
middle class homes built in Beaumont during the 1920s.
Exhibits are attached.
