HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION
September 14, 2009

A Regular Meeting of the Historic Landmark Commission was held on September 14, 2009
at 3:30 p.m, with the following members present:

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Commissioner Craig made a motion to approve the August 10, 2009 minutes.
Commissioner Chodzinski seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried 7:0.
REGULAR MEETING
1) CA-1733: Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to allow the demolition of
an existing house and the construction of a new house.
Location: 2165 Angelina
Applicant: Vickie Gerken
Mr. Richardson presented the staff report. Vickie Gerken, representing Juanita
Dabbs, the property owner, states that the original house was heavily damaged

September 14, 2004
during HuiTicane Rita. The new 863 sq. ft., two bedroom, one bath house will be
a wood frame on a slab foundation. The siding will be LP Smartside Trim and lap
siding. The proposed windows will be aluminum frame one over one. The
proposed roof shingles are a 20 year composite. The house will be painted beige.
Other houses in the block are typically wood frame.
Mr. Richardson recommended approval of the request subject to the window frames
being white and the shingles being architectural style.
Photos of the subject property were shown.
Vice Chairman Blazek asked for the applicant's comments.
Jerry Bonestill, representing the applicant, addressed the Commission.
Commissioner Craig mad,- a motion to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness to
allow the demolition of Pxisting house and the construction of a new house at
2165 Angelina as requested in CA-1733 subject to the window frames being white
and the shingles being .rchitectural style. Commissioner Broussard seconded the
motion. Motion to approve carried 7:0.
2) Historic Preservation Loan Report
Mr. Richardson stated that there was $84,851.20 available.
6) Director's Report
Commissioner Chodzinski reported on the Visionaries in Preservation Program.
The second stage of the application process is a meeting on September 17 at the
French Museum. She asked for representation from Commission members.
7) Historic District Code Enforcement Report
OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioner Chodzinski updated the Commission on the status of the Pig Stand.
The new owner plans to re -open as a diner.
