STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval subject to the following
conditions:
1. Label Withers Lane (Planning)
2. Provide right-of-way and street pavement widths for both
Walton Street and Withers Lane. (Planning)
Fittz & Shipman, Inc., representing the Beaumont Housing
Authority, has applied for approval of a preliminary plat of
Pointe North, a multi-family residential subdivision. The
Housing Authority is demolishing the old Magnolia Homes housing
complex and is going to build a new residential community in
its place. This redevelopment is part of the $20 million HOPE
VI project that the Housing Authority is building on the subject
property and on the old Fair Grounds property.
The original rights-of-way of Walton Street and Withers Lane
were abandoned by the City of Beaumont in 1991. The Housing
Authority will be constructing new streets in a slightly
different alignment and dedicating them to the City.
This item was sent to all interested parties. The Planning
Manager recommends approval subject to labeling Withers Lane
and providing right-of-way and street pavement widths for Walton
Street and Withers Lane.
Exhibits are attached.
