HomeMy WebLinkAbout701-OB DATE: October 16, 2006 TO: Planning Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Consider a request for an abandonment of the 2400 block of Douglas Street. FILE: 701-OB STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request subject to the retention of a 30' wide general utility easement.. St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church is requesting an abandonment of the 2400 block of Douglas Street. The church is located south and east of the subject property. The church states that abandoning the street would provide a safer situation for church members; provide additional parking for church and community functions; and provide room for the future expansion of church facilities. The street currently dead-ends into church property. This item was sent to all interested parties. There are water and sanitary sewer facilities in the street right-of-way. Therefore, the Planning Manager recommends that a 30' wide general utility easement be retained. Exhibit is attached.
