SUBJECT: Consider a request for an abandonment of McLean Street.

STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request subject to
the following condition:
Retention of a 50' x 600' general utility easement. This
easement is measured from the east right-of-way line of Todd
Avenue.
L.M. Fulbright, representing Gulf Building and Loan, has applied for
the abandonment of McLean Street, from Todd Avenue to Calhoun
Street. The right-of-way is unimproved. Gulf Building and Loan
owns all the property along the north side of this portion of McLean
and approximately 600' along the south side.
Mr. Fulbright states that his family owns a large number of the lots on
either side of the McLean right-of-way. He did some preliminary
engineering to determine the cost of extending the street so that the
lots could be built on. However, the cost estimates were too high.
It is Mr. Fulbright=s desire to abandon the right-of-way and construct
one house on the property the family owns.
All but one of the adjacent property owners has agreed to the
abandonment.

Being a 50' wide street right-of-way beginning at the east
right-of-way line of Todd Avenue and extending a distance of 1,470'
to the west right-of-way line of Calhoun Drive, City of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, containing 1.69 acres, more or less.
