HomeMy WebLinkAbout675-OB DATE: December 20, 2004 TO: Planning Commission FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Request for an abandonment of a portion of an unimproved 60' street right-of-way FILE: 675-OB STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request subject to an agreement with DD#6. Bruce Craig is requesting the abandonment of a portion of a 60' wide unimproved street right-of-way to the west of Adam=s Self Storage at 650 IH 10 S. Mr. Craig states that he would like to abandon the right-of-way due to rodent and security problems. If he had use of the land he would clean it up and maintain it. He would also like to utilize the property to expand his self storage. DD #6's Hillebrandt Bayou facility is immediately to the west of the subject property. Initially, DD #6 recommended denial of this request because of the possible need of this right-of-way for drainage purposes. However, DD #6 and Mr. Craig are in negotiation to swap properties thereby allowing for the abandonment. At the time of the writing of this staff report, DD #6 had not received a written agreement. Therefore, the Planning Manager recommends approval of this request subject to DD #6 receiving and approving of the written agreement with Mr. Craig. Exhibits are attached.
