intersection of the KCS Railroad right-of-way

STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval subject to the following
conditions:
1. Retain a water and sanitary sewer line easement.
2. No structures or appurtenances shall be placed within the
easement.
3. Water Utilities shall not be responsible for any surface
restoration when water and/or sanitary sewer main repairs
are necessary.
The City of Beaumont Public Works Department has requested to
close a portion of right-of-way on Pearl Street at the KCS
Railroad tracks.
The purpose of the closure is all part of an effort to create
a quiet zone so that trains do not have to blow their horns
at intersections in the area. An actual quiet zone will be
created by installing the appropriate signalization. Nearby
are the Cathedral Square residential development, Ebenezer
Baptist Church and St. Anthony Basilica. These properties will
greatly benefit by the quiet zone.
This item was sent to all interested parties. Water Utilities
has no objection to the closure. However, there is an 8' water
main and a 15" sanitary sewer main crossing Gilbert at Pearl.

Being a 61.11' x 61.11' segment of Pearl St. right-of-way at
the KCS Railroad extending from the east right-of-way line to
the west right-of-way line of Pearl St. and from the north
right-of-way line to the south right-of-way line of the KCS
Railroad right-of-way, City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, containing 0.0028 acres, more or less.
