Richardson, Planning Manager SUBJECT: Consider a request for the abandonment of a 20' x 100'50' portion of the alley in Block 9, Calder Addition FILE: 801-OB STAFF REPORT The Planning Manager recommends approval subject to the following condition: 1. Retain the abandoned alley as a general utility easement. James Clark, representing Beaumont Events, LLC, has applied for the abandonment of a 20' x 100.50' portion of the alley in Block 9, Calder Addition. Mr. Clark states that his company owns the four lots backing up to the alley. It is the intent of the company to build a commercial building on the two lots fronting Calder and parking lots and/or other facilities on the two lots fronting Broadway. This item was sent to all interested parties. An 8" sanitary sewer line, telephone and electrical lines are located in the alley so approval is conditioned on retaining a 20' wide general utility easement. LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR ORDINANCE PURPOSES Being a 0.046 acre portion of an alley located in Block 9, Calder Addition, beginning at the west right-of-way line of Ewing Street and extending in a westerly direction for a distance of 100.50' to a point even with the southwest corner of Lot 2, Block 9, Calder Addition and the northwest corner of Lot 11, Block 9, Calder Addition, City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, containing 0.046 acres, more or less.
