TO: Planning Commission and City Council
FROM: Stephen C. Richardson, Planning Manager
SUBJECT: Request for a zone change from RCR (Residential Conservation
Revitalization) District to LI (Light Industrial) District or more
restrictive district.
FILE: 1712-Z
STAFF REPORT
The Planning Manager recommends approval of this request.
Sherman and Sherman, Inc., the property owner, is requesting a zone
change from RCR to LI for property located on the west side of Carroll
Street, between Lincoln and Grant. Sherman and Sherman is
requesting this zone change to allow them to park their house moving
equipment on the subject property.
The property is surrounded by RCR zoning on the north, west and
south sides. These properties were originally rezoned from RM-H to
RCR in 1987. The purpose of that rezoning was to allow the
granting of a specific use permit for a fraternal lodge. That use no
longer exists. The property is currently vacant.
In May, 2003, the City Council approved a zone change from RM-H
to LI for the old Charlton-Pollard High School site north of the subject
property. In June, 2003, the City Council approved a zone change
from RM-H to LI for a lot at the southeast corner of Lincoln and
Hemlock.
Exhibits are attached.
